Volume I
The oldest LeQuire individual in western North Carolina that this writer has been able to identify is the Revolutionary War soldier John LeQuire. John, born in France, came to the United States with his parents about 1863. The names of his parents are not known at this time.
John LeQuire is first found in old Tryon County (now Cleveland, Lincoln, and Rutherford Counties), North Carolina. From North Carolina members of the family moved into other states, primarily Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama.
Over 5,000 LeQuire, Lequire, and Luquire descendants and almost 3,000 spouses are included in this two volume publication. Although little is known about how the early LeQuire, Lequire, and Luquire families are related, it is hoped that this work will encourage others to extend this research.
